Ethereum ETFs Will Likely Trade In 2024 Following SEC Approval

In a giant development for the global crypto market, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission approved applications to list eight U.S. Ethereum spot ETFs. This will allow greater access to this asset class among traditional investors.

However, the timeline for these ETFs to begin trading remains unknown. Although the SEC has approved the applications, the issuers’ registration statements are still pending review. No matter the case, the exact date when trading will commence is still unclear, and no one can say for certain.

According to some analysts at Galaxy, trading could begin as early as July or August 2024. Some JPMorgan analysts echoed this view, suggesting that trading of the spot ETH ETFs might start as early as the fall of 2024.

Politically Motivated

As we draw nearer to the 2024 U.S. presidential election, it seems to be getting clearer and clearer that crypto will be a hot button issue during this election cycle. Most, if not all of the major contenders for the White House are taking strong positions on cryptocurrencies, with Elizabeth Warren even stating that she intends to create an “anti-cryptocurrency army.” Other contenders are positioning themselves more favorably toward cryptocurrency.

Market Expectations and Political Implications

The anticipation surrounding the launch of Ethereum spot ETFs is reflected in market predictions. Some experts foresee a significant rally in Ethereum’s price. As the U.S. moves closer to the 2024 presidential election, the regulatory stance on cryptocurrencies and the performance of crypto ETFs are likely to become increasingly important topics, especially considering major presidential contenders are taking staunch stances on crypto — either for or against.

As always, investing inherently carries high risk, and investors should never invest more than they can comfortably lose. No asset, strategy or technology can eliminate risk.
